Hall-Oh Well
The 2009 Spring season starts with one of our primary fields going by the wayside. West Goshen Township has decided to build a maintenance garage on top of Hallowell Field. Old softball fields never die, they just get industrialized. If you live in West Goshen, feel free to drop a respectful note to the Township letting them know that you are disappointed in their decision. The Board of Supervisors meet on Wednesday, March 18th at 4:00pm for anyone interested.

Our coed league began using Hallowell in 1991. The field was christened in the 1991 championship when Roy F. Weston scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat John Milner Architects 6-5 and win the 1991 Spring Championship. There have been many memorable moments at Hallowell field since then. Last Spring on our last offical day at Hallowell, Jitters outlasted Planet Granite Inc 18-15 in eight innings in the first round of the Southern Division playoffs. Hallowell will be missed.

West Goshen has provided us with another, non-lighted field between Exton and West Chester. The field is inside of Lambert Park behind the Wawa on Pottstown Pike. Without the lights, games on Sunday will start earlier at 5pm. We are in the process of trying to find a fourth field to make up for the loss of Hallowell. Stay tuned.
