| Coed Wood Bat Benefit Tourney |  | | | Our first coed wood bat tournament is set to be held this Saturday, September 5th at the Westtown Complex and Green Field. The tournament will be a one-day tournament and will run from 11am to 8:30pm on Saturday. The tournament schedule can be found HERE. All proceeds from the tournament will go directly to Kevin McDonald to help pay for his escalating therapy costs. Kevin means a great deal to the Chester County Softball Community and it is time to show him our appreciation.
There is a three (3) game guarantee for all teams. We will start with pool play in the morning and then go to a single elimination tournament in the afternoon and night. The tournament is being sponsored by Barnaby’s, who will also provide DJ entertainment for the home run derby and later games. The cost of the tournament is $20 per player. Players CAN play for a second team by paying an extra $10.
There are 8 teams in the tournament. If you wake up Saturday and say, "Hey, I feel like playing softball", please come down to the fields. We are sure there are several teams that would be happy to have you play for them.
Bat Rules for the Tournament (We will provide wood bats)
- All females can use any non-altered bat
- All males 50 years or older can use any non-altered bat
- All males 40 years or older not actively in an adult softball league (for 2 years) can use any single-wall aluminum bat
- All other males must use a wood bat provided by us
TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
- Pool play plus single elimination
- $20 per player ($10 to join second team, $10 more to join third team)
- Minimum 3 women on the field at all times
- ALL players bat, a woman must bat every THIRD batter
- Men & Women will hit a 12" softball
- $5 donation for any ground rule (over the fence) home run
- Batters start with a 3-2 count. Foul is an out.
- Maximum 6 runs per inning except for last inning
- Games are limited to one hour
- Two courtesy runners. Players 60 or over can have unlimited courtesy runners.
- Cannot leave the base until contact
- Run rules: 20 after 4, 12 after 5
There will also be a wood bat home run derby at Green Field at 3:00pm. Five outs, top four make second round, homers are cumulative, three outs in second round. Cost will be $20 and winner will take home half of everything collected.
