2012 Eastern Division Playoff Preview
The Eastern Division playoffs began with two best-of-three series on Sunday, July 15th. This year undoubtedly saw the most competitive top five teams in this division since its inception. Regular season champion AnnMauLaw.com (11-3) faces off against newly resurgent Nationwide Insurance (9-5) in one semifinal matchup while NewDay Mortgage (10-4) faces playoff mainstay Side Bar (10-4) in the other semifinal.

Greg Holton started his State Farmers team in the Fall of 2006 with dreams of sugarplums dancing through his head. After an 0-16 start to his managerial career, Greg started handing over more and more of his coaching duties to his teammates, which resulted in more and more wins. From the outhouse to the penthouse, AnnMauLaw.com is the culmination of Greg’s dream, finishing the season 11-3 for their first regular season division title. AnnMauLaw.com features a high powered offense and a stingy defense behind the right arm of fireballer Jeannie Nelson. Nationwide also began their CCCESL career in 2006, albeit with a bit more success. The team began their first playoff push in 2008 with a great start to the season. The success was cut short when former manager Kurt Simon engaged in his now infamous "Old Spice Moment". Nationwide suffered several losing seasons after this unfortunate moment before catapulting to 10-4 last season and following it up with a 9-5 year this season. The league leading offense for Nationwide is led by Bryan Stewart (.756 AVG, 25 runs, 30 RBIs, 5 homers) and Mike Landow (.689 AVG, 25 runs, 18 RBIs, 7 doubles). Pitcher Jamie Mosteller continues to dominate from the mound, recording the second lowest ERA this season in the division.

NewDay Mortgage is one of the longest tenured teams in the league, dating back to 2001 as J&K Professional Services. After a two year hiatus from the playoff scene, NewDay left no doubt this year with a 10-4 campaign, eliciting memories of their 2007 Southern Division championship run. Jimmy Sweich leads the stingiest defense in the league behind the two-headed pitching monster of Tom Martini and Mark Aaronson. The team is looking for a servicable scorekeeper for the 2013 season so they can once again enter stats into the website. Their opponent is the always tough, never-say-die Side Bar squad. Side Bar has reached the Eastern Division championship in each of the past two seasons, only to succumb to injuries, heat and solid opponents each year. Side Bar is looking to climb the mountain this season behind the hot bats of Mike Repko (.750 AVG, 20 runs, 16 RBIs, 5 homers), pitcher Jason Torres (.733 AVG, 18 runs, 33 hits, 30 RBIs, 11 doubles) and Sam & Meg Bauer (combined 47 hits, 30 runs, 37 RBIs, 15 doubles).

Good luck to all teams!
